Hello! Welcome to the home page of Cary James Felbab. That's
me in the picture - well truth be told that's me more than a few years ago but I look mostly the same albeit with a bit less hair! I live in Lakeville,
a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In April of 2005 I was blessed
with a wonderful new wife and soulmate for life named Susan (or as
I like to call her "Susie").
I am also the proud father of two children from my first wife Tammy:
a daughter named Cassandra
Lee Felbab and son Logan
James Felbab. With my marriage to Sue, I also gained three step children,
Alex Cooper, Elizabeth Bakken and Sam Bakken. Recently we added a lovable new puppy named Finley to our family. And later this winter, we're expecting our first grandchild!
I graduated college in 1989 from the University
of Wisconsin - Madison. It's a great school and I highly recommend
it. With degrees in Computer Science and Business Management, I went to work in the I.T. industry. After a short stint at a small consulting firm (Kaufman Group Inc.), I spent 27+ years at Thomson Reuters working my way into executive technology leadership roles. Currently, I am leading a talented team of technologists for Securian Financial in support of their Individual Solutions market group. This team builds and support technology for customers purchasing life insurance, annuities and wealth management services from the firm.
On this page I have gathered a collection of my favorite sites on the
Web. This list continues to evolve over time as I discover new and cool
uses of the Internet.
Personal
Resources
The Web is an ideal place to
express yourself. Presented below is a collection of links
that say a bit about me, my family and my
friends.
Travel
Resources
Although the pandemic has temporarily curtailed this, travel is a passion of mine. This world that God has given us is full of beautiful places and amazing people. By all means go explore it!
- Delta Airlines
-living in the Twin Cities there's really only one choice for air travel.
- Flyer Talk -
the place to go for the latest on mileague runs and chasing medallions and other frequent flier craziness.
- Simple Flying -
interesting tidbits from the aviation industry.
- Century Travel Club -
some people collect stamps other people collect countries!
- Norwegian Cruise Lines -
one of my favortite ways to explore the world on the high seas.
- Viking River Cruises -
provider of exceptional experiences on the great rivers of the world.
- Cruise Critic : NCL -
discussion forum for all things related to cruising Norwegian Cruise Lines.
News
Resources
Cyberspace is the place to be for
the latest news and information. Here in the digital domain
the flow of information is the prime directive and the
allure of its potential. To stay connected, to stay on top
of things, here are some of the sites I click to.
- Reuters.com -
the news as it is meant to be, thoughtful and brought to us by former employer of 25+ years.
- RealClearPolitics -
in a polarized world full of bias, here's an excellent place to hear both sides of the issues.
Weather
Resources
Living in a place like Minnesota you can usually sum the
weather up in one word,
cold! But
being that we live in an information society, one word
simply does not cut it. What with the largest computer
network in the history of the planet at your fingertips, one
ought to be able to get a decent weather forecast.
Computing
Resources
Okay, I'll admit it, I am a bit of a geek! Maybe not a
complete propeller head, I mean do have a life, a wife, a
family, wild tales of youthful adventure and all that.
Enough of that ... here are a few of my favorite computing
resources.
- Apple Computer
- the mothership and last best hope for computing
- Apple Insider -
tasty tidbits of the future, crazy guesswork, you decide.
- Wired
- the definitive source for the well-informed way-cool Web visionary.
Financial
Resources
Money may not be everything, it may not buy happiness;
but it sure comes in handy from time to time. As you
would expect, the Internet has a lot to offer the investor
and billionaire-in-training.
Entertainment
Resources
- Digital
Bits - excellent online source of DVD related
information & rumors.
- Dilbert
Zone - the sage of modern business practices, the
everyday hero of cyberspace.
- PSOnline
- the premiere source for Sony Playstation3 news and
information.
Retail
Resources
Electronic commerce has pretty much established itself as the way
to stop. Here is a marketplace without parking hassles, rude pushy
salespeople, lines at the checkout and the other familar landscapes
of the old brick and mortar world. Here are some of my favorite
on-line storefronts.
Local Resources
Lakeville offers a vibrant collection of amenities and activities
to ensure that our family has the richest possible life experiences.
Collected here are links to the essentials.
Other Resources
Being something of an egghead at times, I've
gathered here a collection of totally cool sites devoted to
esoteric topics like the pursuit of the top quark and just
to prove that I do have some culture and innate coolness
resources for tracking down the perfect wine to share with friends and colleagues.
