The Felbab surname is exceedingly rare in the world. At the time of this writng, we are aware of less than one thousand people on the planet who carry this surname or its close derivatives. For that reason, we believe that every single Felbab in the world is almost certainly related to one another and its an aspiration of the Felbab family to try to establish the complete family tree line. If you are a Felbab, we'd love to make a connection with you! You can do so by sending an email to cary@felbab.com. Or if you have an account on ancestory.com, we'd love to connect with you there.

We have strong reason to believe that the surname is dervived from the German word Feldwebel which loosely translates to sergeant.

We don't yet know the precise global point of origin of the Felbab family. In the direct ancestory line of the principal owner of felbab.com, we have succesfully traced family roots back to the early 1800s in regions of what is today the Czech Republic. Interestingly, only a small number of Felbabs reside today in the Czech Republic (less than 20). The largest numbers today appear to be living in Serbia (approximately 350). As you see from the map below the rest of the Felbabs are present only in a handful of other countries with the largest being the United States of America.

We are aware of two other derivative surnames that we have found evidence are of the same line (Felbáb and Felbob). Felbáb is likely the original form of the name while Felbab is the name as it appears in the United States and several other regions of the world. Additionally, there are several places in the family line where people have changed the spelling of Felbab to Felbob so that it sounds more like it is pronounced.
